Hardin-Simmons Earns 2025-2026 Military Friendly® School Designation

April 8, 2025

Hardin-Simmons University is pleased to announce that it has earned the 2025-2026 Military Friendly® School designation.

More than 1,800 schools participated in the 2025-2026 survey, with 830 earning special awards for going above the standard. Institutions earning the Military Friendly® School designation were evaluated using both public data sources and responses from a proprietary survey.

“With HSU’s proximity to Dyess Air Force Base, we’re proud of this recognition,” said Christopher McNair, Ph.D., Provost and Chief Academic Officer at Hardin-Simmons University. “Our community stands firm in supporting our military neighbors, and at HSU, we are committed to providing them with the resources, education, and encouragement they deserve. Being named a Military Friendly® School reflects our ongoing dedication to those who serve our country.”

In addition to our convenient proximity to Dyess Air Force Base, HSU proudly supports military-affiliated students through programs like the Yellow Ribbon Program and Military Tuition Assistance. We also offer endowed scholarships to help veterans access additional funding. HSU is home to a dedicated veterans’ benefits coordinator who provides personalized guidance every step of the way, and many of our faculty, staff, and administrators are proud veterans themselves. Throughout the year, the university hosts events to honor and celebrate the service and sacrifice of our military community.

Methodology, criteria, and weightings were determined by Viqtory with input from the Military Friendly® Advisory Council of independent leaders in the higher education and military recruitment community.

Final ratings were determined by combining the institution’s survey scores with the assessment of the institution’s ability to meet thresholds for Student Retention, Graduation, Job Placement, Loan Repayment, Persistence (Degree Advancement or Transfer), and Loan Default rates for all students and, specifically, for student veterans.

“Military Friendly® is committed to transparency and providing consistent data-driven standards in our designation process. Our standards provide a benchmark that promotes positive outcomes and support services that better the educational landscape and provide opportunity for the Military Community. This creates a competitive atmosphere that encourages Institutions to evolve and invest in their programs consistently. Schools who achieve awards designation show true commitment in their efforts, exceeding the standard.” – Kayla Lopez, Vice President, Military Friendly®.
